GREENE TEMPE, Mich.
– Jeff Greenes love of the Green Day has not diminished, and he’s ready to sing their hit song again.
Greene, who has been a big fan of the band since their first tour in 2005, says he plans to play the song live.
“I think it’s going to be an absolute treat,” said Greene.
“It’s an incredible song and I’m just going to go crazy with it.”
The Michigan native says he has never really gotten into the band, and it was just as much a part of his upbringing as his musical tastes.
“I was always a fan of Green Day, but it was more of a love for the band as a whole, not necessarily in the rock world,” he said.
Greene has been with Green Day since 2005.
The band played a pair of shows at the Michigan Stadium in April and September, and last year he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Greene said that he didn’t know Green Day before the band’s first tour of the United States in 2005.
“In a way, I was just in the middle of the night, watching the band and just listening to them,” Greene told Rolling Stone.
“So I’m not really into the music.
I was in the stadium watching it and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, that’s really good.’
But the other thing is that I was watching it from the comfort of my living room, and I never really looked into it because I was a little bit too busy playing golf and eating and whatever.”
Greenes biggest fans in the United Kingdom include his wife, Stephanie, and his daughter, Charlotte, who he met in 2006.
Greenes son, Justin, was born in 2015.
The band will return to the United State for a third time in 2017, when they headline the Newport Folk Festival.
Green is also a member of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
