Kevin Greene is a book collector, writer and historian.
He has written and edited many books on Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and the Pacific region, and is a regular on the ABC’s World News Tonight.
Mr Greene is the author of three books, most recently The Lost Generation: A New Zealand History of Australia and New Guinea (Hodder & Stoughton).
ABC News: ABC Fact Check investigates a book the Greens claim he stole.
In an email to the ABC, Mr Greene said he was unaware of the claim that Mr Greene stole his book.
“I can confirm that the book I purchased is in fact mine and I am happy to discuss any details with Mr Green,” Mr Greene wrote.
Mr Green has also been in contact with the author, who told the ABC that he was “completely shocked and embarrassed” by the claims.
“The book was a gift from a friend who asked me for it,” he said.
“He gave it to me as a gift in memory of my mum and I thought it was going to be a wonderful gift for a child and he was really surprised and upset when he found out that it was stolen.”
ABC Fact Checks has also found no evidence to support the Greens’ claim.
“Kevin Greene is not a bookseller,” he wrote.
“There are many, many books that he has purchased that I do not know about.”

Com.au that he did not know what it was when he bought the manuscript, which was sent to him by an unnamed bookseller.
He said he had been informed by the bookseller that the manuscript was stolen.
“This is what I’m told: I bought a book called The Lost Generations and I didn’t realise it was a stolen book.
I was just surprised that someone would steal it.”
