Kevin Greene, the star of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” died on Thursday, three days after being found unresponsive in his New York City home, his publicist confirmed.
Mr. Greene was 51.
He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
Greene’s publicist did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
Mr, Greene starred in three “Game” movies and appeared in two more episodes of the HBO series, ”The Wire.”
In 2002, he also starred in the HBO miniseries ”The Big One,” in which he played a man who gets trapped in a collapsing apartment complex.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Greene, and his two children, Michael and Emily.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of our beloved, dear friend, Kevin Greene,” his publicists said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Rest in peace, brother.”
Mr. Greene was a member of the “Downton Abbey” cast, which won five Emmys in 2005.
His most notable role was playing the villainous villainess, Lady Mary Crawley.
He also played the evil wizard, Lord Baelish, on the “Game Of Thrones” series.
He had been acting for nearly 25 years.
Mr., Greene had been on stage since 1998, when he appeared on Broadway in the musical “Bridget Jones’ Bridle Path.”
He received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of “Dr. John.”
The actor had been hospitalized for heart trouble since December.
In 2003, Mr. Greenberg and his wife were hospitalized after they were bitten by a venomous snake while filming an episode of ”The Game of Thrones” in London.
They underwent an emergency surgery, which was unsuccessful, and he was transferred to Bellevue.
His family and the public have been waiting for the news since.
Greene was married with two daughters, who have since adopted his children.
Mr.; Greene was known for playing a self-described “superhero” on the series, but he also played a villainous character in the 1990s film “Hercules and Hercules.”
In the film, Mr., Green played the villainess of the film.
Mr Greene starred in a variety of roles in the films, including “Gone Girl” and “The Avengers.”
The series is set to premiere on Sunday, May 17. “
